Vinyl Fence Installation

Homeowners excited about the purchase of a new vinyl fence for their home usually have a number of questions even after purchase and even after speaking with someone who specializes in vinyl fencing.

Among the most frequent questions, "how long will it take to install my vinyl fence?", is the one question professionals here most often. In truth the installation of a vinyl fence is similar to the installation of a wood fence. The biggest advantage the installation of a vinyl fence has over one made of wood is time. If you've opted for professional installation you'll notice that the installation will be completed in a much more timely fashion than those dealing with wood fences. This is because vinyl weighs a lot less than wood does which therefore makes installation much easier. Installation is so much easier in fact that many people opt to install their new vinyl fence themselves.

Cleaning Your Vinyl Fence

We're often quick to point out just how easy it is to care for vinyl fences and how little maintenance they actually require. While we have rarely touched on however is how to actually care for a vinyl fence once it's been installed in your yard.

While vinyl fences are very resistant to moisture and heat, they like everything else, tend to collect dirt, mud, insects, and debris over time. Therefore owners of vinyl fences will occasionally need to venture outside and engage in some light cleaning.

Owners of a vinyl fence will need the following things to clean their vinyl fence:

  • Water hose
  • Either a bucket of soapy water or a spray bottle full of cleaning solution
  • Several soft rags
  • A scrub brush with soft bristles
Utilizing all these things an individual can clean a vinyl fence with relative ease and without spending too much time on the project. Tougher stains such as those left by mud may require a little elbow grease but even those shouldn't be too tough to remove.

Should you have any questions regarding the care of your vinyl fence please do not hesitate to contact us that we may be of assistance.

Tis The Season: To Start Planning For Summer

Although winter is nearly upon us and will hang around for a good 4 to 5 months, it's never too early to start making plans for summer. This is specially true for individuals who utilize their home during the summertime and even more so for those who begin entertaining guests in the spring.

Making plans well in advance of the actual season is especially helpful for those homeowners who plan on doing remodeling or setting up a new area in the front or back of their home for summer usage. There are a lot of homeowners who consider having a new deck or patio installed in their backyard so as to make the area more enjoyable for themselves as well as their guests. A backyard used for things like barbecues, pool parties, and just relaxing outside should feature a nice deck, patio, gazebo, and perhaps an outdoor living space.

Of course homeowners looking to have these things set up in their yards should spend the winter pondering what materials they like to use in the construction of these things and how much they want to spend on the project. Pricing different vendors during this time a year is a good idea and you might even find lower prices on these things simply because they are "out of season".

Should you be looking to have a deck, patio, or gazebo set up in your front or back yard please be sure to contact us as we would love to be of assistance!

Gazebos Add Glamour to Your Home

When you drive by a home and you see a gazebo in their back yard, you think, “They care for their guests and want a nice place to entertain.” Gazebos are more than just a place to entertain. They can be a quiet place for personal study or a place for family board games, and above all, it can and will be used for various events.

The size of the gazebo will be your first choice. Do you want it big enough to have a pavilion or bandstand, a cabana, or a second room to your home? Or will you prefer it to be small and cozy, yet still big enough for a few friends to gather. Will it be a shelter in bad weather?

If so, you will want some siding on it, but that isn’t necessary as most gazebos have only a roof that shades very little and is otherwise open to year round weather.

Whether you buy a ready-to-assemble kit or have it built by a contractor, or build it yourself, your gazebo will have your personality stamped in your own back yard. It will be an intimate place in your garden, and you can have birthday parties for the kids, or a wedding for family or friends.

A gazebo should match or contrast with the rest of your property. It could be made of steel, aluminum, coated steel, vinyl or wood. Whatever materials you use would possibly be the contractor’s choice that you hire to build it. There are numerous choices, for instance, the type of foundation and flooring would be very important. Would you install the gazebo on a concrete slab, or one with wood flooring?

Will you be able to move your gazebo, or will it remain in place? Will it be near a pool? If that is the case, you may want to install a section for privacy as a dressing room. Will your gazebo be in or near a garden? If not you may want a few potted plants to surround your gazebo, that will add privacy to the area.

Whatever your plans will be, whether a simple or an elaborate place it will be necessary to make plans, and you should check with the building department in the city where you live. There may be laws that could change your mind in what you have planned for your gazebo. The decisions are yours to make, just be sure your gazebo will add glamour to your home.

Buying A Vinyl Fence: Tips 5 & 6

The final two tips in our "how to buy a vinyl fence" themed blogs deals with payment options and warranties. These are two of the most important aspects in the purchasing process as it determines a number of different things for the consumer.

Paying with a credit card when you purchase a vinyl fence is an excellent way to protect yourself. For example, if the company you purchase your vinyl fence from does not send you what you ordered you can simply call your credit card company and dispute the charge without the hassle of having to worry about cash or a company that won't return phone calls or e-mails. Furthermore credit card companies will not mediate a resolution but will try to confirm that what you got what you paid for and ifyou did not they will accept your disputed charge.

Most important of all when purchasing a vinyl fence, or anything for that matter, is to get a warranty. Most products these days come with a factory issue warranty and it's important to have a least that in any vinyl fence you purchase. Even the best made vinyl fences, just like any other product, might occasionally exhibit flaws which you will want to have corrected at now cost to you, especially if your purchase was recent. Talk to the vendor about not only the manufacture's warranty but any extended warranties that they may offer as well.

Should you have any questions about getting the best vinyl fence for you and your home or about vinyl fences in general please be sure to contact us and ask. We will be more than happy to assist you in any way we can.

Buying A Vinyl Fence: Tips 3 & 4

In keeping with the tradition of helping our clients and prospective clients purchase a vinyl fence that best suits their needs we'd like to offer a few more tips that will help ensure that they get the fence they want.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when you're looking to purchase a vinyl fence is to not buy parts or fences that will be obsolete within the next year or two. This is important because should any part of a vinyl fence fail or have problems you'll want to be sure that replacement parts are available in the future. When parts aren't available a home owner must often purchase an entire new fence to fix their problem. Purchasing a vinyl fence that a manufacturer will back for years to come is the smart way to go.

Once an individual knows which type of fence they want and have found one that they're ready to purchase, the next thing to do is to check the backgrounds of the vendors they are interested in. The results will tell the consumer whether or not a company and its products are reputable and worth their time and money. Reading reviews from past clients online and even talking to a representative of the company will yield plenty of information.

As with purchasing anything, gathering as much information as you can prior to a purchase can help you make good educated decisions and ensure that you purchase a product that you really want as well as one that will last for years.

Buying A Vinyl Fence: Tips 1 & 2

We want to assist all of our customers and prospective customers in purchasing a vinyl fence that will last them for years and vinyl fences that are of the highest quality. Keeping the following tips in mind when shopping for a vinyl fence will help you get the fence are looking for.
  1. Know your specifications: Prior to purchasing any vinyl fence know what you need for your specific fence. This includes posts, rails, and even bottom railing enforcements. You'll also want to compare the thickness of every vinyl extrusion. The majority of companies sell lower grade vinyl fence post which are .120 to .135 thick which are cheaper because they use less vinyl. If you want a higher quality fence be sure to buy thicker.

  2. Use aluminum supports: All vinyl fencing, except for the posts and rails, should come with metal supports that strengthen and prevent your railings from sagging. Beware of companies that use only wood which makes no sense as it to can sag and warp rather easily which leads to both costly and unnecessary repairs.
Keeping these two tips in mind can help you purchase a vinyl fence that's right for you and your home and keep unnecessary repairs at bay. So you have any questions about these tips are about vinyl fences in general please do not hesitate to contact us as we will be happy to assist you.
