Installing A Vinyl Gate Yourself

If you've already got a vinyl fence set up around your home or yard, you need only to set up a vinyl gate to complete the look of your property and completely close it off from trespassers as well as other unwanted nonhuman guests. While many homeowners will hire a professional to install their new vinyl gate it's actually a straightforward process that requires a homeowner to spend only a small amount of time planning things out.

The first thing a homeowner will want to do when they opt to install a vinyl gate themselves is to measure the distance between the two fence posts where they intend to install their new gate. Once they have obtained the proper measurements they will want to purchase a vinyl gate that is one and a quarter inche less wide than the distance measured between the individual posts.

Once the measuring and purchasing processes are complete homeowner will need to hold their new gate between the two posts where the gate will be installed so that it's even with the vertical railings. They then must adjust the bottom edge of their new gate so that it is even with the bottom of their fence. Additionally they must position the gate between both posts while leaving a 5/8 inch gap on at one side.

Making their new gate level is the next step for a homeowner who is installing their own vinyl gate. In order to level the gate a homeowner will need help from a partner and have them hold the gate in place. The gate should be aligned so that each of its hinges are aligned directly over the top and bottom back rails of their gate. The longer narrower side of their gate hinge should be positioned over the railings while the shorter side should be against the fence posts.

With everything aligned a homeowner should then mark positions on their gate where they intend to drill holes. Drilling holes in a new vinyl gate without marking drilling positions first almost always result in mistakes and a gate that features unnecessary and out of place holes in it.

When a homeowner is ready to drill holes into their new vinyl gate they'll want to first lay it on a flat surface with its back railings pointing towards the sky. Lying the gate flat allows for more accurate drilling and fewer mistakes. A homeowner can then drill through their vinyl gate into the wood inside of the fence posts to create holes which will be needed to attach hinges and the gate latches later.

Lastly a homeowner will need to attach the hinges on their new vinyl gate to the appropriate fence posts and utilize wood screws for the task. First up is attaching the gate latch to the opposite fence post. The new gate should be held to the opening of the fence and aligned with the other half of each hinge with the holes in the back rails. Hinges can then be attached to the gate with screws through each drilled hole and finally a gates latches on the other side.

Prepare Your Patio For Spring

Now that the holidays are officially over many homeowners turn their attention toward the spring season. While spring is still officially a few months away it has a tendency to creep up on unprepared homeowners, especially those who like to entertain guests once the weather has warmed up.

If you're this type of homeowner then you will undoubtedly begin thinking of ways to spruce up or improve your patio for the upcoming spring season and for the entertainment of guests. One way to really make a patio/backyard more comfortable and usable for entertaining guests is to add or upgrade an existing patio cover.

Having a good patio cover installed in a backyard not only ensures that guests will have a shady place to relax but it will also provide them with an area in which they can escape falling leaves, wind, debris, and in some cases rain. Patio covers made of wood and metal, while performing well for the first couple of years of their life, tend to degrade quickly and will offer fewer and fewer advantages to homeowners and their guests as the years roll on.

If you're considering putting in a new patio cover for the upcoming spring season or should you be considering upgrading to a vinyl patio cover please be sure to contact us so that we may help get you started and set you on the right path.

Vinyl Fences Aren't The Only Vinyl Products Available For Your Home

We speak often of vinyl fences and just about any subject you can imagine that relates to them. In this post however we want to talk a little bit about other vinyl products for your home. While vinyl fences remain very popular among homeowners who want a fence that requires little to no maintenance, there are other vinyl products for the home that offer the same benefits that vinyl fences do.

The first among these are patio covers. Vinyl patio covers are popular for the same reason vinyl fences are popular. These patio covers are low maintenance and homeowners can pick up a well constructed patio cover made of vinyl for a relatively low cost. Furthermore installation is a cinch and these patio covers last for years and even decades.

Gates made of vinyl are quickly rising in popularity among homeowners who are are all familiar with vinyl products as well as those who are just being introduced to them. Vinyl gates like fences made of the same material offer homeowners a sturdy product at a fair price and a plethora of different designs and brands to choose from.

Railings around a deck, patio, or balcony not only act as markers for the beginning and ending of an area but are often thought of as safety mechanisms as well. Vinyl railings are just as strong in security as their wood and metal counterparts but require almost no maintenance. Homeowners who purchase vinyl railings can rest easy knowing that people on their decks and balconies will not only know where those areas end but will be safe from hazards well.

Vinyl decks are available for homeowners who spent countless dollars and hours caring for a wood deck that continuously peels, cracks, warps and splinters. If you're such a person and simply want a  deck that you can enjoy without having to reapply finishing and reparative chemicals to it than a vinyl deck is for you.

Should you have any questions about any of vinyl products for your home please be sure to contact us so that we may provide you with the information you seek.

Is Vinyl Right For Your Home?

While vinyl products work in nearly every scenario, there are situations and homes which aren't really conducive to vinyl products. Knowing whether or not vinyl products will work for your home is really a matter of consulting with a professional who deals with things like vinyl fences, gates, and decks.

Most professionals can make a pretty good assessment over the phone but there are some that will even come to your home to determine whether or not vinyl will work for it. The rule of thumb for homeowners however should be to speak with a professional unless they are 100% certain that vinyl is right for their home.

Homes in which vinyl products might not work are homes that are owned by individuals with plenty of disposable income. In such scenarios a homeowner will have no problem purchasing the chemicals necessary to keep their wood and metal fences from  degrading nor will they have any financial issues with hiring people to take care of the maintenance for them. A second scenario in which metal and wood products might work better for a home is one where a homeowner seeks to greatly increase the value of their home. While a vinyl fence and other vinyl products can tremendously boost the value of a home, traditional wood and metal fences are sometimes valued more by buyers.

If you're uncertain of whether or not vinyl fencing or any other vinyl product is right for your home please don't hesitate to contact us as will be happy to help.

Low Quality Vinyl Fences: Buyer Beware

So you've been sold on the idea of purchasing a vinyl fence as opposed to a new wooden or metal fence. A vinyl fence can indeed be enticing for reasons related to both budget and design but homeowners must be wary of the many subpar vinyl fences on the market.

While nearly every company that manufactures and sells vinyl fences sells their products as being aesthetically comparable to wood, there are many brands and types of vinyl fences that are not up to snuff in terms of their design and construction. This is especially true of vinyl fences that are marketed as having the ability to be indistinguishable from a wood fence.

Vinyl fences constructed of lower quality plastics may, from great distances, look like wood but anyone who gets within a few yards of one will quickly recognize that the fence isn't made of wood but rather low-grade plastic. These types of fences don't even come close to looking like a middle-of-the-road vinyl fences either and instead look like nothing more than cheap plastic.

If you are currently searching for a vinyl fence for your home and are unsure of the different grades of quality please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance.

Vinyl Fencing: The Non Toxic Solution

When individuals consider installing fencing in and around their home there is a lot to consider. Everything from cost, durability, and aesthetics crosses the minds of every person prior to the purchase of a fence. What many people don't think about however is safety which is equally important, if not more so, than all the aforementioned reasons.

While wood and metal fencing might look fantastic not only are they not as durable as vinyl fencing but they can be toxic to both children and animals as well. This is because wood and metal fences are often treated with hazardous chemicals in order to help preserve them and help them withstand things like heat, water, and wind. Who hasn't heard of children or pets who play near and sometimes ingest parts of a fence?

Vinyl fences on the other hand don't require any additional preservatives or chemicals as they are naturally resistant to weather and other natural elements. Should you have any questions about vinyl fences please be sure to contact us so that we may assist you.

Vinyl Fencing Is Extremly Flexible

We've often talked about the numerous advantages that vinyl fencing has over fencing made of wood and metal. Today we're going to continue with that train of thought and talk about another advantage vinyl has over woods and metal when it comes to fencing.

Not only is vinyl fencing resistant to heat and moisture but because it's essentially high grade plastic, it's vastly more flexible than wood and certainly more so than metal fencing. This means homeowners who live in areas where high winds blow constantly need not worry about their fencing being warped or misshapen by high-powered gusts. The same can be said of homeowners who live in areas where brutal storms are often the norm. Vinyl fencing is extremely sturdy and flexible and will withstand the types of weather and environments that wood and metal fencing will not.

Should you have any questions about the flexibility of vinyl fencing or should you wish to purchase one please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance!

Types of Fences for Your Yard

As you look at the variety of fencing products, you’ll be amazed at the differences between them. Some offer total privacy and security, while others offer neither of those qualities.

The picket fence is cute, not especially beautiful, but it serves its purpose when enclosing the front yard or simply around a garden area. Dogs may be able to jump over them and children climb over them, while smaller animals may climb between the slats. The picket fence is made from either wood or vinyl. Wood will need paint, and if you’ve never painted a picket fence, it is a real pain in the neck. They are usually less than four feet high so offer no security to or from anyone.

The second fence we look is a slat fence, and is made of wood or vinyl, and it offers the same beauty and security as the picket fence. In other words, animals and children will simply crawl under it or jump over it. You may see the slat fence around horse corrals, and they are rarely over five feet in height, and for some reason horses don’t jump over them.

The wooden lattice fence again has no security although some view it as pretty. It is often installed over wood or block walls to give an added benefit of security and privacy. Rarely if ever will you see a lattice fence as the entire fence. It is rather flimsy and needs other material to be strong.

The chain link fence is seen often where high winds blow. Beauty is never connected to the chain link fence, but durability is. The average height is about four or five feet, and can be jumped by any agile person or animal. Often the chain link stands as a barrier at businesses where you might spot rolls of barb wire that has been installed on top of the chain link. This discourages people from dropping in unannounced and unwanted. Those chain link fences are normally between five and eight feet high.

Many people install their own fencing, and it is relatively easy, but there is a lot of hard work involved. Plus you will have to purchase the material. If you don’t like to sweat, then you might consider hiring a fencing company to purchase and install your fences around your yard. They know what type lasts longer, and will be able to help you choose the type best suitable for your area.

    Vinyl Fence Installation

Homeowners excited about the purchase of a new vinyl fence for their home usually have a number of questions even after purchase and even after speaking with someone who specializes in vinyl fencing.

Among the most frequent questions, "how long will it take to install my vinyl fence?", is the one question professionals here most often. In truth the installation of a vinyl fence is similar to the installation of a wood fence. The biggest advantage the installation of a vinyl fence has over one made of wood is time. If you've opted for professional installation you'll notice that the installation will be completed in a much more timely fashion than those dealing with wood fences. This is because vinyl weighs a lot less than wood does which therefore makes installation much easier. Installation is so much easier in fact that many people opt to install their new vinyl fence themselves.

Should you have questions about the installation of a vinyl fence you've purchased or should you be looking to purchase one and have one installed in the near future please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance!

    Cleaning Your Vinyl Fence

We're often quick to point out just how easy it is to care for vinyl fences and how little maintenance they actually require. While we have rarely touched on however is how to actually care for a vinyl fence once it's been installed in your yard.

While vinyl fences are very resistant to moisture and heat, they like everything else, tend to collect dirt, mud, insects, and debris over time. Therefore owners of vinyl fences will occasionally need to venture outside and engage in some light cleaning.

Owners of a vinyl fence will need the following things to clean their vinyl fence:

    • Water hose
    • Either a bucket of soapy water or a spray bottle full of cleaning solution
    • Several soft rags
    • A scrub brush with soft bristles
Utilizing all these things an individual can clean a vinyl fence with relative ease and without spending too much time on the project. Tougher stains such as those left by mud may require a little elbow grease but even those shouldn't be too tough to remove.

Should you have any questions regarding the care of your vinyl fence please do not hesitate to contact us that we may be of assistance.

Tis The Season: To Start Planning For Summer

Although winter is nearly upon us and will hang around for a good 4 to 5 months, it's never too early to start making plans for summer. This is specially true for individuals who utilize their home during the summertime and even more so for those who begin entertaining guests in the spring.

Making plans well in advance of the actual season is especially helpful for those homeowners who plan on doing remodeling or setting up a new area in the front or back of their home for summer usage. There are a lot of homeowners who consider having a new deck or patio installed in their backyard so as to make the area more enjoyable for themselves as well as their guests. A backyard used for things like barbecues, pool parties, and just relaxing outside should feature a nice deck, patio, gazebo, and perhaps an outdoor living space.

Of course homeowners looking to have these things set up in their yards should spend the winter pondering what materials they like to use in the construction of these things and how much they want to spend on the project. Pricing different vendors during this time a year is a good idea and you might even find lower prices on these things simply because they are "out of season".

Should you be looking to have a deck, patio, or gazebo set up in your front or back yard please be sure to contact us as we would love to be of assistance!

Gazebos Add Glamour to Your Home

When you drive by a home and you see a gazebo in their back yard, you think, “They care for their guests and want a nice place to entertain.” Gazebos are more than just a place to entertain. They can be a quiet place for personal study or a place for family board games, and above all, it can and will be used for various events.

The size of the gazebo will be your first choice. Do you want it big enough to have a pavilion or bandstand, a cabana, or a second room to your home? Or will you prefer it to be small and cozy, yet still big enough for a few friends to gather. Will it be a shelter in bad weather?

If so, you will want some siding on it, but that isn’t necessary as most gazebos have only a roof that shades very little and is otherwise open to year round weather.

Whether you buy a ready-to-assemble kit or have it built by a contractor, or build it yourself, your gazebo will have your personality stamped in your own back yard. It will be an intimate place in your garden, and you can have birthday parties for the kids, or a wedding for family or friends.

A gazebo should match or contrast with the rest of your property. It could be made of steel, aluminum, coated steel, vinyl or wood. Whatever materials you use would possibly be the contractor’s choice that you hire to build it. There are numerous choices, for instance, the type of foundation and flooring would be very important. Would you install the gazebo on a concrete slab, or one with wood flooring?

Will you be able to move your gazebo, or will it remain in place? Will it be near a pool? If that is the case, you may want to install a section for privacy as a dressing room. Will your gazebo be in or near a garden? If not you may want a few potted plants to surround your gazebo, that will add privacy to the area.

Whatever your plans will be, whether a simple or an elaborate place it will be necessary to make plans, and you should check with the building department in the city where you live. There may be laws that could change your mind in what you have planned for your gazebo. The decisions are yours to make, just be sure your gazebo will add glamour to your home.

    Buying A Vinyl Fence: Tips 5 & 6

The final two tips in our "how to buy a vinyl fence" themed blogs deals with payment options and warranties. These are two of the most important aspects in the purchasing process as it determines a number of different things for the consumer.

Paying with a credit card when you purchase a vinyl fence is an excellent way to protect yourself. For example, if the company you purchase your vinyl fence from does not send you what you ordered you can simply call your credit card company and dispute the charge without the hassle of having to worry about cash or a company that won't return phone calls or e-mails. Furthermore credit card companies will not mediate a resolution but will try to confirm that what you got what you paid for and ifyou did not they will accept your disputed charge.

Most important of all when purchasing a vinyl fence, or anything for that matter, is to get a warranty. Most products these days come with a factory issue warranty and it's important to have a least that in any vinyl fence you purchase. Even the best made vinyl fences, just like any other product, might occasionally exhibit flaws which you will want to have corrected at now cost to you, especially if your purchase was recent. Talk to the vendor about not only the manufacture's warranty but any extended warranties that they may offer as well.

Should you have any questions about getting the best vinyl fence for you and your home or about vinyl fences in general please be sure to contact us and ask. We will be more than happy to assist you in any way we can.

    Buying A Vinyl Fence: Tips 3 & 4

In keeping with the tradition of helping our clients and prospective clients purchase a vinyl fence that best suits their needs we'd like to offer a few more tips that will help ensure that they get the fence they want.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when you're looking to purchase a vinyl fence is to not buy parts or fences that will be obsolete within the next year or two. This is important because should any part of a vinyl fence fail or have problems you'll want to be sure that replacement parts are available in the future. When parts aren't available a home owner must often purchase an entire new fence to fix their problem. Purchasing a vinyl fence that a manufacturer will back for years to come is the smart way to go.

Once an individual knows which type of fence they want and have found one that they're ready to purchase, the next thing to do is to check the backgrounds of the vendors they are interested in. The results will tell the consumer whether or not a company and its products are reputable and worth their time and money. Reading reviews from past clients online and even talking to a representative of the company will yield plenty of information.

As with purchasing anything, gathering as much information as you can prior to a purchase can help you make good educated decisions and ensure that you purchase a product that you really want as well as one that will last for years.

Should you have any questions about these tips or vinyl fences in general please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance!

    Buying A Vinyl Fence: Tips 1 & 2

We want to assist all of our customers and prospective customers in purchasing a vinyl fence that will last them for years and vinyl fences that are of the highest quality. Keeping the following tips in mind when shopping for a vinyl fence will help you get the fence are looking for.
    1. Know your specifications: Prior to purchasing any vinyl fence know what you need for your specific fence. This includes posts, rails, and even bottom railing enforcements. You'll also want to compare the thickness of every vinyl extrusion. The majority of companies sell lower grade vinyl fence post which are .120 to .135 thick which are cheaper because they use less vinyl. If you want a higher quality fence be sure to buy thicker.

    2. Use aluminum supports: All vinyl fencing, except for the posts and rails, should come with metal supports that strengthen and prevent your railings from sagging. Beware of companies that use only wood which makes no sense as it to can sag and warp rather easily which leads to both costly and unnecessary repairs.
Keeping these two tips in mind can help you purchase a vinyl fence that's right for you and your home and keep unnecessary repairs at bay. So you have any questions about these tips are about vinyl fences in general please do not hesitate to contact us as we will be happy to assist you.

    Orange County Fences: Fence Designs

The first decision you must make when you decide you want to fence your property, is what do you want the fence to do? Is it for security? Is it for privacy? Is it for beauty? Is it to keep the kids and a dog in an enclosed area?

The second decision is where do you live? Are there restrictions as to where the fence can be installed or what kind of fence? For instance your city or county where you live may require the fence to be six feet or under, and it should be installed how many feet from the road, street, or sidewalk? Who will install it? You need to answer those questions before you invest in a fence.

The cheapest fence you can buy is a chain link fence. The most common sizes come in 4’ 5’ and 6’ heights. There are several advantages to chain link. If you live in an area where the wind blows, the chain link will last much longer than a wood fence. It never needs painting, and it doesn’t block your view of the neighbors.

If it’s privacy you want and are willing to spend the time and money in painting it every year or two, a wood fence will work for most people. Weather is the biggest problem with wood fences. They rot, they fade, they blow down, but when you replace the rot, paint the fade, and put it back up when they blow down, a wood fence is a good investment.

There are new products that replace the wood fences and some you can hardly  tell the difference. Vinyl fencing is the new product and you will see them all over town. They come mainly in white, never need painting, you can wash them off when they get dirty, paint doesn’t adhere to them. They are more expensive, but there are cheap versions out there and remember you get just what you pay for.
Other fences are around that you may like. Picket fences that come in wood or vinyl are pretty, and add finishing touches to your property, but they don’t add any security. The wood needs the same care as the wood fence. Wrought iron fences are beautiful, provide security but not much privacy, but you could always plant shrubs around them if that is your choice.
One choice and it isn’t considered a fence, it’s a block wall. You have security, privacy and higher taxes, because they add value to your home and property.

Not All Railings Are Created Equal

While many homeowners select a vinyl railing for their home, deck, or patio instead of traditional wood or metal railings, homeowners need to remember that not all vinyl products are created equal. There is of course the very best vinyl railings which are made out of commercial grade vinyl and then lesser grade vinyl products which are often found in retail stores. While those of a lesser quality may offer a homeowner a more affordable solution they will lose out on aesthetics, durabillity, and resistance to the elements.

The very best vinyl railings are not only made from commercial grade vinyl but are built strong and designed well by engineers to be self-supporting and extremely durable. High-end rails will not require that wood be inside in order to hold them up and will be capable of standing on their own and supporting themselves. Furthermore high end vinyl railings are going to be extremely whether/element resistant. This means any homeowner who purchases this type of railing will not need to treat or repair their railing after even prolonged exposure to intense sun, heat, or moisture.

There's a lot to love about vinyl railings and plenty of advantages they have over traditional wood and metal railings. If you'd like to learn more or if you have questions about any of our vinyl products please do not hesitate to contact us so that we may be of assistance.

    Termites Don't Dine On Vinyl

One of the biggest concerns homeowners face is household pests. While most can be controlled through the use of poisons and traps the one that poses the greatest risk to their home is termites. Termites are notorious among homeowners as they can eat away at a home over the years and can actually render a home unlivable and cost homeowners large amounts of money.

The majority of homes are made primarily of wood so combating termites isn't ever easy but homeowners can elect to utilize alternative materials in and around their home. The most popular among these alternative materials is vinyl.

    Vinyl: Saftey For Your Home

It goes without saying that anybody who's worked hard enough and saved enough to purchase a home will go to great lengths to ensure that it not only suits their living needs but that the home remains safe as well. There are many different things homeowners can do to ensure that their home stays safe from things like fire and erosion though they can now select vinyl materials for their home rather than traditional wood and sometimes metal which significantly helps.

Vinyl fences, gates, railings, decks, and even gazebos are all highly resistant to both heat and fire. Whereas things constructed of wood tend to catch fire very easily, even when treated with fire retardant chemicals, homeowners needn't worry about fire affecting their vinyl structures nor about fire on the structures catching to begin with. Once fire has begun on a wooden structure it becomes incredibly difficult to contain and that fire can jump to new locations rather easily. Fires can destroy houses very quickly along with any occupants inside but selecting vinyl for certain structures in and around the home can make any home a little bit safer.

Should you have any questions about vital structures for your home please do not hesitate to contact us as we will be happy to assist you!

Vinyl Patio Covers: The Long Term Investment

There are those patio covers which are made from wood and there are those patio covers which are made from metal. Different types of wood and metal can be utilized in the construction of a patio cover though both materials are prone to a number of different problems. Warping, cracking, peeling, overheating, rusting, and rot are all common in patio covers made of these materials.

When dealing with vinyl patio covers however, homeowners looking for a big return on their investment into a patio cover can rest easy knowing that vinyl patio covers aren't prone to any of these problems. Moreover they are easily maintained and require only light cleaning every so often. Vinyl patio covers also won't overheat an area like a metal patio cover does and they provide ample protection from elements and from the sun just as their wooden brethren do.

Vinyl patio covers offer many advantages that metal and wood covers don't. Should you have questions about those advantages please do not hesitate to contact us so that we may answer them for you!

    Vinyl Walls For Your Home

Stone walls surrounding a home not only add a tremendous amount of beauty to a home but carry with it some positive financial aspects as well. While stonewalls that encompasses a home or specific yard around the home may be financially and aesthetically beneficial to a home stonewalls are not without problems.

This is why many homeowners have turned to Durawall when they're looking to either build or replace a stonewall around their home. These vinyl walls have the look and feel of a real stonewall and to the layperson are indistinguishable from real stone. While stonewalls are prone to cracking from ground movement as well as grout and stone erosion, vinyl Durawall walls are immune to such things. There are also graffiti and fire resistant as well.

With so many advantages to utilizing a vinyl wall as opposed to one made of traditional stone it's not hard to see why so many homeowners and even new construction contractors have begin selecting these types of walls over traditional stonewalls.

Should you have any questions about vinyl walls please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to answer any that you have.

    Carefully Choosing Your Railings

When dealing with railings around porches and decks there are number of things to consider. First and foremost should be the safety they provide followed by their durability and then lastly their design. There many homeowners who often overlook the safety and durability aspects of the Los Angeles railings that they’re interested in when they’re in a rush to purchasing railings they find attractive.

Safety however is extremely important because railings on decks, porches, and even balconies not only serve as a visual boundary but can protect homeowners and their guests from falling over the side. Homeowners with small children should take extra care in choosing only those new railings that provide a high level of safety. Fortunately nearly every type of railing regardless of its brand or vendor offers a fair amount of safety and provides homeowners with the peace of mind that they need.

Whereas reliability and durability are concerned, brand and vendor will play a factor in whether or not any railings are a quality product. Railings for homes are made from a large number of different materials and while all are attractive, not all materials stand up to harsh weather or extreme temperatures. Some lower end railings don’t last very long at all and a homeowner will find themselves in a position where they must once again replace their railings. This can be avoided by carefully assessing the environment a homeowner resides in. Areas that have a high level of moisture/precipitation will necessitate a homeowner install railings made of vinyl or some type of polyurethane. These types of materials are highly resistant to both brief and prolonged exposure to moisture. In fact vinyl railings work well in areas which receive a lot of sunlight and/or heat as well.

The last thing to consider is aesthetic appeal of Los Angeles railings. These railings will be around the outside of a home and as such homeowners want them to look as attractive as possible. Traditional wood railings while boasting some fantastic architecture normally carry a high price tag and are subject the rot, peeling, and cracking after only a short time. On the other hand railings made out of vinyl aren’t vulnerable to these things and are much more affordable than traditional wood. Moreover unless a visitor were to ask a homeowner what they are Los Angeles railings were made of, they would have no idea that they were vinyl.

Carefully assessing everything and even consulting with a professional contractor is in the best interest of every homeowner that seeks to install new or upgrade their homes and railings. To not do so is folly and can cost a homeowner quite a bit more money than they probably want to spend. Be sure to contact us with any questions you may have!

Vinyl Fencing Stands Out From the Rest

How often have you driven down a street and compared fencing materials? Wood was the most popular for years and years, concrete blocks as well, but they’re very expensive, and it takes a skilled pro to install them. The chain link provided security, but little else. Then you saw those pure white vinyl fences, they offered you the privacy that you desired, but are they worth the price?

The wood fences became faded even after only one year and when the wind blew, and the wind often blows, the wood fences fell down. You saw places where they propped the fence up with stakes, and knew it was only a matter of time and they would join the rest of the wood fencing. Partially on the ground and they had neither privacy nor security.

Vinyl fences were the ones you want. Love the look, love the privacy. So you started researching the vinyl fencing. Yes, it was more expensive, and there was more than one grade of materials. You even went on line to check them out, and visited the local hardware stores who advertised them regularly.

The advantages to vinyl fencing: They never need painting; they are stronger and last longer than wood; the graffiti specialists don’t like vinyl fencing because the paint does not adhere to it; some even come with a lifetime guarantee, but probably not the ones at the hardware store; they are maintenance free, but they advise you to wash them at least once a year with soap and water. That would be easy enough.

You’ve also found that if you buy the cheaper stuff, you get what you paid for, so what else is new? The cheaper stuff is still pretty, but it cracks and chips and is brittle due to the seasons of hot and cold temperatures. It also stands to reason that if you want quality you will have to pay more for it, but it will be worth it in the long run.

The better vinyl is thicker and will resist the weather. You’ve also decided to find a professional who is knowledgeable about fencing especially vinyl fencing. Once the better grade vinyl fence is installed you know it is there to stay without all the painting and repair that other fences require. In the long run it will actually be cheaper without all those high cost repairs. Do it right the first time, and you will be able to forget it until one of your neighbor’s compliments you on your new fence. Then you’ll know you did the right thing.

    Vinyl Security For Your Home

While many individuals place fences around their home in order to deter onlookers in people with more unscrupulous ideas from entering their home, no offense is indestructible or impenetrable. There are however certain types of fences that are more durable and are able to deter wrongdoers to a greater degree than others.

Vinyl fences are among the most durable types of fences currently on the market. We've talked about how avinyl fence save a couple in their home from a raging forest fire yet we have not talked much about how well they deter people from entering your yard and your home.

Provided your vinyl fence is tall enough most people, especially burglars, won't put forth the extra effort needed to penetrate or tear through a vinyl fence. Would fences can be burned in easily broken by both feet and hands when somebody wants into your yard. A vinyl fence on the other hand cannot be kicked or punched in nor can it be penetrated with tools very easily.

If you're an individual who wants greater security around your home and have questions about how vinyl fence can provide that type of security, please be sure to contact us so that we may be of assistance!

Vinyl Fence Saves Home From Blaze

There are numerous advantages to owning a vinyl fence, advantages that wood and metal fences don't always or are incapable of offering homeowners. Perhaps the most advantageous of reasons is vinyl's high resistance to heat and fire.

Take for example two homeowners in Florida. Lorenzo Riccio and Juliet Simmons installed their vinyl fence around their Florida home in order to save time and money on painting and maintenance though they never dreamed that their vinyl fence would keep their 3400 ft.² home from being destroyed in a raging forest fire.

The couple initially thought about purchasing a wood fence but decided to go with vinyl after reviewing the maintenance costs of a wood fence. Had they chosen a wood fence is very likely that they would've lost their home and potentially much more to his dangerous blaze.

If you have questions about the fire retardant properties of a vinyl fence please be sure to contact us and we'll be happy to answer any may have.

Railings: A Safety Net For All

Having a railing around a deck or patio, especially a raised one, not only sets up a visual boundary but also acts as a safety/security aspect as well. Decks and patios are generally enjoyed during all times of the year and as such both can become crowded with bodies.

While adults are generally more cautious than children, accidents do happen and falling from a raised deck or patio, even one only slightly raised, can result in serious injury. When children are present on a deck without some type of railing there for protection almost all falls are of a serious nature. This is why it's important for any homeowner with a patio or deck to make sure that they not only select a railing that complements their designated area but one that's sturdy and durable as well. Doing so will ensure all their guests are safe while out on their patio or deck.

As you have any questions regarding railings for your home please be sure to contact us and we'll be happy to answer any you may have.

Gates And Security For Your Home

Having gates around the yard or just around the home in general is a good way to boost security around any residence. While even the greatest of gates won't deter the most ardent and determined criminals, gates can serve as a pretty big deterrent whereas casual burglars and unwanted guests are concerned.

The really good news is that gates are available in not only a wide variety of different materials that offer both pros and cons but different levels of security as well. For example, some gates are made much more sturdy and more cumbersome for unwanted guests and others are. Gates are also available in a wide variety of prices so even homeowners on very modest budgets can now afford a good endurable gate.

    The Privacy Fence

There are number of reasons to put up a fence around a home. Perhaps the most important reason is privacy. Whether you rent, loan, or lease, you deserve all the privacy you desire in your own home. Having a fence surrounding the perimeter of the property or even just the front yard is a good way to up the level of privacy an individual has in their home. This also works well in the backyard and keeps neighbors from peering in while you're both in the home and enjoying some time outside in the backyard.

Residences without a fence offer far less privacy than those without one and as anyone who lives in such a home can tell you there are constantly people peering inside if for no other reason than curiosity. While curious individuals may be annoying, those with more devious intent might be looking into your home in order to plan a burglary or some other unscrupulous activity.

With many different types of material available for fences the majority of fences are terribly expensive and so there is little excuse to not have one set up. Fences offer peace of mind as well as privacy and safety. Contact us today to have a fence set up around your home.

    Gazebo Placement Considerations

A great deal of homeowners, when discussing gazebos, often don't give much thought to placing their gazebos in a location other than directly under or adjacent to a deck or patio. While the placement of the gazebo should be given considerable thought long before purchase, most homeowners simply shop and then have it set up so that it's juxtaposed with their decks or patios.

Though there are a small number of individuals who do, the majority of homeowners never take the time to consider placing their Orange County vinyl gazebo in the middle of a lawn or anywhere else in the back or front yard. Truth be told, locations other than those next to a deck or patio often provide homeowners and their guests with a comfortable place to relax outdoors even during the hottest times of the year.

Placing a gazebo away from a deck or patio also allows people to enjoy it while there is barbecuing going on or when there are a great number of visitors in the yard. The smoke from a barbecue, which is usually originates from a deck or patio, will immediately flow into the gazebo area when they are placed in close proximity to one another. A crowded deck or patio also takes away from the intimacy and relaxing nature that gazebo is supposed to offer.

Should you have any questions about vinyl gazebos or about any other vinyl products in general, please be sure to contact us or that we be of assistance.

    Orange County Vinyl Gates

People talk a lot about vinyl fences, vinyl railings, and a whole host of other vinyl products but you rarely hear people talk about Orange County vinyl gates. This includes high temperatures, constant sun, heavy or light moisture and best of all vinyl gates do not rot, crack, warp, chip or peel. They're also extremely affordable which makes them the gate of choice for the majority of modern homeowners.

Should you have any questions about vinyl gates or any other vinyl products please do not hesitate to contact us so that we may be of assistance.

Caring For A Wood Fence Is Hard Work

While wood fences often look very attractive around the home, they tend to have a number of different problems. The majority of new wooden fences are made of Redwood and Oak but even these fine words are prone to problems. If you've elected to forego an Orange County vinyl fence in favor of a more traditional wood fence then you will need to take great care of that fence if you hope to enjoy it for years to come.

There are a number of things that consumers can do should they choose a wood fence over a vinyl one.
    • Consumers should choose only purchase a wood fence that has been pressure-treated. This will help protect the fence from moisture and insects.
    • Consumers should also look for wood fences that have preservatives and sealants added to them. These act like wax on a car and protects them from a number of different elements.
    • Consumers should always keep in mind that water is one of the greatest threats to a wood fence and therefore should only purchase fences that have been treated with special water repellent preservatives.
Again would fences tend to be very attractive but with a wide variety of Orange County vinyl fences available that are nearly indistinguishable from wood there is really no reason to purchase a wood fence at all.

Should you have any questions about vinyl fences or the problems that accompany a wood fence please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can be of assistance.

    Orange County Deck Covers

The majority of homeowners enjoy spending considerable amount of time out on the patio. Homeowners will regularly utilize their decks for purposes of relaxation and gathering with friends and even family. It's also not uncommon to find grills and barbecue pits on the decks of a home. Relaxing in the backyard in an area designated for that type of activity is both pleasing and fun.

As most decks are used by homeowners during the spring and summer months, decks must have an Orange County deck cover above it in order to be considered accommodating to people. While a deck without one might be enjoyable during the night there will be no protection from rain, wind, falling debris from roofs, and even insects. During the day, especially during the summer, a deck cover offers people remarkable protection from the sun as well as shade. In most cases shade is usually about 10 to 20° cooler than the non-shaded areas surrounding a deck.

Orange County deck covers are now available in vinyl which should give reluctant homeowners all the reason they need to finally purchase a cover for their deck. It's a fact that many homeowners remain apprehensive about purchasing a deck cover only because those made of wood tend to rot, split, chip, and warp over short periods of time. Repairs and replacement parts for wooden decks can be quite costly. Vinyl deck covers don't have the aforementioned issues. Best of all however is the fact that there are many vinyl deck covers that are made to mimic the look of wood and are indistinguishable from the real thing.

Be sure to contact us with any questions about viny deck covers that you may have!

    Good Neighbor Fences Are Vinyl

If good fences really do make good neighbors than it's extremely important to invest in a new fence that offers more advantages than disadvantages. The only type of fence that really offers more advantages than disadvantages is the final fence. Consumers who purchase vinyl fencing as opposed to either wood or iron fencing realize quickly that there is little upkeep involved in owning a vinyl fence which is certainly not the case when you're dealing with one of these other types of fences.

Vinyl fences are far more durable than both iron and wood fences as well as the other type of materials out there that might be used in the construction of fences. A vinyl fence will give a homeowner the best bang for their buck.

Panels and posts made from vinyl don't rot, shrink, or rust like those made of metal and wood do. They also won't fall apart slowly over time like fences made of other materials do. As a result homeowners won't find themselves in a spot where they are forced to buy extras or replace broken portions nor will they have to try and match stain or paint color precisely as they would with wood and iron fences.

In some neighborhoods, even really good ones, graffiti can be an issue for homeowners with a fence. Vinyl fences allow graffiti to be removed with just a small amount of lacquer thinner and elbow grease. In contrast, homeowners who've set up a wood or iron fence will spend considerable time and/or money having graffiti removed from their property.

In sharp contrast to fences made of iron and wood, Orange County vinyl fences are available for purchase in a wide array of colors and even textures. Homeowners who love the look of wood but hate the maintenance requirements and short lifespan can purchase a vinyl fence with the look of natural wood grain and the layperson will never know the difference.

The majority of vinyl fences are "good neighbor fences" because they look excellent on both sides which will ultimately please a homeowner's neighbor as well. If a homeowner is setting up a fence along a property border the only thing they will need to discuss with their neighbor is color choice.
Perhaps even more important to homeowners then quality and beauty is the fact that the majority of vinyl fence manufacturers offer lifetime warranties on their products! You won't ever find these types of warranties with wood or any kind of metal fencing.

Orange County Fences - Why Choose Vinyl Over Wood?

There are a lot of reasons to choose an Orange County vinyl fence over a wooden or even a stone fence. Wood, being a natural component, has a tendency to wear, rot and flake if it's painted or treated. And with Durawood you don't even have to choose between durability and a natural look! Durawood combines the look and feel of wood with durable vinyl fencing.

    • DuraMax has combined Poly Vinyl Extrusion with Molecular Technology to deliver the only fence that brings the real look and feel of a wood fence in a low-maintenance vinyl fence product.
    • Real wood texture.
    • Routed construction & patented interlocking system provide you with a strong and durable vinyl fence, without unsightly brackets, screws, or nails.
    • LIFETIME TRANSFERABLE WARRANTY!
But don't take our word for it, stop by one of our showrooms to take a look at our Los Angeles fences today!
