Caring For A Wood Fence Is Hard Work

While wood fences often look very attractive around the home, they tend to have a number of different problems. The majority of new wooden fences are made of Redwood and Oak but even these fine words are prone to problems. If you've elected to forego an Orange County vinyl fence in favor of a more traditional wood fence then you will need to take great care of that fence if you hope to enjoy it for years to come.

There are a number of things that consumers can do should they choose a wood fence over a vinyl one.
  • Consumers should choose only purchase a wood fence that has been pressure-treated. This will help protect the fence from moisture and insects.
  • Consumers should also look for wood fences that have preservatives and sealants added to them. These act like wax on a car and protects them from a number of different elements.
  • Consumers should always keep in mind that water is one of the greatest threats to a wood fence and therefore should only purchase fences that have been treated with special water repellent preservatives.
Again would fences tend to be very attractive but with a wide variety of Orange County vinyl fences available that are nearly indistinguishable from wood there is really no reason to purchase a wood fence at all.
